Yesterday, Norway ratified the new international ocean agreement (BBNJ) at the United Nations in New York. With this, Norway takes a leading role in the global effort to protect the world’s oceans and ensure the sustainable use of marine resources.

Norway’s Chargé d’affaires Mr Ødegaard at yesterday’s memorial event in Lety. The Lety Memorial is to commemorate Roma and Sinti Holocaust victims, supported by Norway Grants. The Memorial is built at the site of the concentration camp for Roma and Sinti people, where over 300 people died.

Today marks 80 years since Norway was liberated – after five years of brutal occupation. Since then, we have enjoyed a free and democratic Norway, and perhaps we have taken it somewhat for granted. Today, on Liberation and Veterans Day, we appreciate those who fought for our freedom. Thank you.

Today, we had the pleasure of meeting Georgian artist Miriam Gviniashvili and former Georgian Ambassador to Czechia, Tea Maisuradze. Norway, Georgia, and the Czech Republic share common values, and music is an important aspect of cultural cooperation that helps connect us.

Norway will provide NOK 4 billion in funding in 2025 to the Czech-led initiative to supply Ukraine with artillery ammunition. Norway will also provide NOK 1 billion to the European Peace Facility (EPF).
