Every time a major contract is signed in baseball fans scream about the need for a salary cap because the billionaires who own their team aren't willing to do what it takes to win. I get it. But a cap won't change that. What you should all be clammoring for is A SALARY FLOOR. $70M works for me.

Everyone understands that the current MLB luxury tax structure just puts more money in the pockets of owners who refuse to spend money to improve their teams. MLB first needs a salary floor, forcing those same owners to improve. They then need a real cap, not a tax.

MLB owners are very wealthy. They make a ton of money every year on top of their already existent wealth. They have tricked many of you into believing that small market teams can't spend like large market teams, but the reality is they just choose not to.
