"Conflating" is the wrong word there. I believe you meant "confusing". The word "conflate" is "con-" (with) and "flo" (to blow). It's where we get "inflate", "flatulence", and "flow". If you smoosh two pieces of hot metal together "with a blow" to cool it off, you have "conflated" them.
