I hated those services, everything is wrong about them. There is also an issue with trucks having to reverse into their parking bays, which also creates chaos and confusion. It should be completely rebuilt with drive-through bays for trucks and coaches. 🟨 - 🚚 🟩 - 🚌 🟦 - campers and vans 🟥 - 🚗

Also the first 10 spaces you encounter are impossible to use without blocking all access while you reverse. Because the queue makes it looks busy, people will take these spaces every time they're free, even though they are too tight for typical drivers. Really reduces flow.

A simple fix would be to redefine the car park circulation. All those two-way aisles create congestion and conflict points. The next thing is to invest in car park space monitoring so each aisle can display how many spaces are available. Finally, a second deck if all else has failed.

People don't believe me when I talk about Wetherby services, but Google Earth illustrates it really well. There's massive queue to get in (yes that's it on the motorway), and yes there aren't enough parking spaces - but there are still quite a few spaces that people simply can't find.
