I appreciate himeno as a character for forcing you to sit with that moral ambiguity, for reflecting the reality that many sexual encounters can be messy and confusing, for showing how trauma (seeing her colleagues die) can lead to causing harm (drinking too much & behaving inappropriately)

it's a lot easier to write off everyone who's committed sexual assault as irredeemably evil than it is to admit that many of us know a himeno—someone who may not have bad intentions, but crossed lines and behaved inappropriately. I think this is part of why people react so strongly to her character

another uncomfortable truth that's exposed by denji + himeno is that sometimes, a sexual encounter can seem fine in the moment & a victim may not feel like a victim until later. denji is pretty unfazed afterwards, but this experience certainly contributes to his hypersexuality down the road

I think that some cases of sexual assault are less black and white than people want to believe, especially when alcohol or drugs are involved. himeno being drunk & them not having sex doesn’t absolve her of responsibility for her actions, but I also wouldn’t group her with violent sex offenders

like most people, I think this was pretty clearly wrong—denji is a minor and her junior at work, something himeno herself recognizes the next day. I also don't think she intended to cause denji harm, but that doesn't free her from responsibility for the impact of her actions.
