Am I a hypocrite for using Eternal Floette in my own games, despite speaking out on it as a pay-to-win Pokémon? Firstly I did the hard work to get it (and I even gave it the best nickname of all time). Secondly, as an unofficial “suspect tester”, all I can do is play the game and speak my opinion.

And here is my semi-annual “Smogon is a necessary evil” rant. I don’t really care for Smogon, at all. But there are two things that they get right for sure. Draft League, and the concept of “suspect testing.” This is a thread about suspect testing, and how top VGC players gate keep the community.

Not enough people are talking about the fact that the Pokémon winning a vast majority of these major tournaments is literally a pay-to-win Pokémon.

I don’t often find that European players typically define VGC metas. However, I think they definitely had a chance to define the Regulation Set M-A meta with the Turin Special event, even with the little format we actually have left. That said, a TON of the teams in this regional are very similar.

Since I left my job in March of this year, a job I maintained reluctantly for two years, I’ve received *so* many points of validation that said job was the problem, and not me.
