Sunday, June 21st - 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day. #NIPD2026 takes place on the summer solstice, which holds deep spiritual & cultural significance for many First Nations, Inuit & Métis, marking a time of renewal, connection, & celebration of cultures, languages & traditions.

National Indigenous Peoples’ Day is June 21st & here’s another Indigenous storytelling reco from our team. Today’s Indigenous story reco: Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner is an Inuit legend on film. An evil spirit causes strife in the community & one warrior battles its menace. A Greek tragedy w/universal themes, stunning cinematography, sharing life as the seasons change & told w/humour in Inuktitut. Wow. 🙌🎥

Leading up to National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re sharing Indigenous storytelling recos from our team! INDIGENOUS VOICES OF VANCOUVER ISLAND is a podcast series highlighting the talents of Indigenous entrepreneurs & how they are preserving their traditions while succeeding in modern business.

Sheriff & Gary shared thoughts from #IROC2026! They saw partnerships & collaborations really addressing the concerns of First Nations. Our team enjoyed the SFU Osteology Workshop this week! Katrina said she really appreciated the chance for a refresh on osteology & being able to do it with her coworkers. Yesterday was World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue & Development, which focuses on the world’s diverse cultures & cultural rights needed in public policies, including the RIGHT OF INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES TO SAFEGUARD THEIR ANCESTRAL KNOWLEDGE & protection of cultural & natural heritage.

World Meditation Day today encourages people to step away from the fast-paced modern world to practice mindfulness, calm, and inner reflection. A good practice during Mental Health Awareness Month, this pause encourages us all to reconnect with ourselves and be empathetic with everyone around us. 💚

Remembering the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia, that happened over the weekend. It commemorates the 1990 decision of the WHO to remove homosexuality from the list of mental disorders. LGBT rights are not special rights. In a fair & just society no one is left behind.

Today is The International Day of Families & 2026 focused on family-oriented policies like parental leave, affordable childcare, & child benefits that reduce inequalities, support children, & improve family well-being. We’d like to honour & thank our families for their love & support every day. 💚😍
