Painting vs References Thought it might be fun to show people what my canvases look like if I were to turn aaallllll of my reference layers on at once. I often cluster them around the relevant area I'm working on. (Somehow I've lost all the ones for the desk + scrolls 😞)

Took a giant gulp of cider during what i thought would be a long rest in bg3 and when the emperor appeared laying seductively without a shirt on i snorted so hard it almost came up my nose

Good news: bg3 has in fact inspired a fair few number of ideas for fanart (6) Bad news (for my hand): not a single one is a painting/illustration. they are all short comic style ideas. (i can’t draw) Bad news (for others and perhaps for my dignity): they are all astarion themed (embarrassing)

It’s New Year’s resolution time as usual. It’s actually more somber reminder to myself not to lose my own voice over the worries of reception. It’s important to me to make honest pieces—not necessarily the art I like to consume as a viewer.

Damn I miss Dishonored.

Returning to Cedric Peyravernay for this one. I'd actually had the idea before I saw this work of his, but I definitely drew on it both for the vibes and some of the render-work (though again, I never seem to be able to breach my own comfort zone)

Btw FedEx ruined Christmas I sent a package for a friend secret santa exchange and literally 5/6 items were missing from the package. Shipping weight was over 4.5 lbs and on arrival contained One Single Piece of Paper (art print). I paid $60 to ship this.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that Kar'niss lost all his appeal as soon as he opened his mouth (also given that I saw art of him and knew his name before I started playing the game I assumed he would have a larger role than That)

Putting them side by side it is still so so SO obvious how much more I can learn from Yuming Li (@yumingart.bsky.social). This was a big departure for me, but I can't help feeling I played it too safe, and that I could have pushed harder to chase that vibrancy and soft glow

If I had unlimited resources, I would spend most of it on Roberto Ferri's paintings. The two included here were my primary influences for my painting on the right. Every time I see his work anew I am absolutely astounded. God. I could study his paintings for a decade and still learn something new

"The Flayed Man" One last personal piece before the year ends. Pretty happy with how this came out. Its close to what I envisioned in my head which is rare. Thought the clouds would be the hardest part but actually the snakes on the frame were what really kicked my butt.
