Beautiful sunrise this Saturday morning 12-20-2025, the official last day of autumn, over the Sangre de Cristo mountains in far northern New Mexico. Looking at another unseasonably warm day, no snow, and drought conditions getting worse by the day.

Tuesday 11-11-25, Veterans Day, was marked by a beautiful dawn that was bookended by a rare aurora here in northern New Mexico. It also was time to reflect on the career military father I barely got to know who was a combat veteran of both WWII and Korea and who definitely had PTSD.

We saw the 11-11-2025 as far south as New Mexico. Here's a pic taken in a dark sky area of the aurora framing 11,000 ft elevation San Antonio Mountain 20 miles south of the Colorado state line.
