I walked by and sometimes with homeless people from union station down the street to my law school. Miraculously, no crimes. I gave them money and food and they chatted me up about current events. I was, however, once assaulted by a very much housed man in a red state 🫩

I need an anti-head exploding device to help me deal with my ex asking about everything EXCEPT how he can help financially provide for his three children. Blessedly for me, I don’t need it. But for women who do, I just don’t know how y’all don’t be in jail at least once a month.

I met a great guy. Tall, smart, financially independent, thoughtful, articulate AND Black! There’s just one problem. All of his views on politics are pure red hat, with the white letters. I comment on Bluesky politics posts, so the following is NOT universally true. But generally, the comments are super unhinged left-wing hyperbole that is completely disconnected from reality and OFTEN from the actual post. It’s weird. Threads has much better and more thoughtful comments.

This is good. They aren’t caving, they are in on it. Some of this, I think, applies to universities as well. It definitely applies to large corporations backing away from DEI.

The Epstein controversy ought to finally reveal that there is no left or right or GOP or Democrats, there is only money and the interests it serves. Your team, whether you recognize it or not, is your class, not your race- CLASS. But, I have no faith these people can get this. They never have.

This has been studied. Extensively. What is happening here doesn’t get to enjoy being unique or all that creative. It’s not even new to THIS country.

I’ve been sober for 3 weeks. I don’t physically miss alcohol. I did not have a physical dependency. But my emotions? That’s another story. Apparently if you’re buzzed enough, you don’t notice things that will definitely bother you when you are stone cold sober. I miss the alcohol blur, tremendously.

I have not looked at my skyline here since July 1. I knew what those people in DC were going to do and I knew they would do it on the timeline orange set. I have not been in the space to process my own thoughts with the firehose of everyone else’s coming at me. It’s a lot. Be safe out here.

I HATE how everyone on LinkedIn is honored and humbled. Apparently those traits have no correlation to creative and original.

People have been unintelligent for a long time but an influx of information in the digital age has exacerbated the problem. Not only are people stupid, they no longer think they are, which actually makes them stupider.

We all mean to! Purchasing the rotisserie chicken always seems like a good idea at the time. And it is! But then you got half a chicken looking like it got in a street fight sitting in your fridge for the next three days.

I hold on to my podcast recommendations like I would guard a warm cinnamon apple donut on a fall day. But this is one worth sharing. Tressie will ungaslight you about the economy and social forces in general. It is so worth your time.

I think people genuine misunderstand the expression "billionaires should not exist. " It's that in a system that pays workers equitably, and pays taxes in proportion to the benefits by which they were able to accrue their wealth, it should not be possible to have that much wealth.

Finding out that my husband was cheating on me when I had three kids under 4, one of whom was 5 weeks at the time, was pure trauma. That is not how I interpreted it intellectually, but my body knew. The body always recognizes trauma.

Trauma arises when you are facing a single significant stimulus or prolonged exposure to a stimulus that triggers your fight or flight impulse. We are not intended to exist in that heightened state of alertness and it leaves an impression that our nervous system translates as trauma.
