La Resistencia has not been able to communicate with Steven for four days, and we have also not been able to reach his colleague. The last time La Resistencia spoke with Steven, he notified us that if we did not hear from him he was likely in medical isolation to be monitored or force fed.

La Resistencia has tried to contact Steven several times to check on his well-being and find out if his demands have been met, but he did not answer.

Steven Chavarria Portillo is on Day 9 of his hunger strike to demand urgent medical care, an end to negligence inside the NWDC, and a return to general population. Steven can’t sleep at night, and when he tries to sleeps during the day, GEO wakes him up to try to break his hunger strike.

Steven is on Day 8 of his hunger strike at the Northwest Detention Center. He is still in solitary confinement and is being threatened with placement in a medical unit and getting force-fed.

As La Resistencia continues to monitor conditions at NWDC, we heard on 911 calls that there were complaints of abdominal pains. Per reports from inside the facility, we know that it can take weeks to be seen by medical providers, indicating that serious conditions can go ignored.

Steven enters day seven of his hunger strike. He is not feeling well and is suffering from a headache. He told La Resistencia that solitary confinement slowly destroys you mentally.

Steven enters day sixth of his hunger strike. He did not answer our call yesterday, he spent the entire day sleeping to gain energy to continue fighting. Steven continues in segregation, despite being told by Lieutenant Hensen he would return to general population by Monday.

Steven is now on day five of his hunger strike. La Resistencia reached out to him this morning, but received no response, raising concerns about possible retaliations. His calls may have been restricted after Steven told us GEO spoke with him after our video call with him a few days ago.

Steven enters day three of his hunger strike, he missed 9 meals. His demands remain the same, including an immediate appointment with the dentist. A appointment he has been waiting since January 2024.

“I’ve lived in the U.S. for 17 years. My life and my family are here. There are many injustices I’ve witnesed since being detained in the NWDC, like meals getting delayed for 3 hours.

La Resistencia was unable to reach Uzi due to GEO restrictions. If he remains on hunger strike, today is day 8.

On the day of the incident, multiple food trays had rodent poop on them during both breakfast and lunch. Many detainees saw it and reported it. During breakfast, detainees spoke to GEO Lieutenant Colton.

Uzi goes into day 7 of his hunger strike. La Resistencia was not able to talk with Uzi, his calls might be restricted. We would like to know NOW if ICE spoke with Uzi, taken to medical for his dental appointment, and if his demands are MET.

Today marks day 6 of Uzi Otoniel Gonzalez Maria’s #hungerstrike inside the Northwest Detention Center and the pain is getting worse, close to “breaking point”. Uzi is continuing his protest until his demands are met.

Uzi continues with his hunger strike going into day five and missed 15 meals. GEO is retaliating against him by placing the food in front of him thinking it will force Uzi to give up, it doesn’t. Uzi was told he had a dentist appointment in the morning, he hasn’t been seen yet.

There are at LEAST 2 hunger strikes happening right now inside the infamous Northwest Detention Center. One of the people is Uzi who has not eaten for 4 days.

Uzi continues his hunger strike into day three and has now missed seven meals. GEO keeps telling him to eat, claiming that if he does, they will listen to his demands but Uzi knows this is a tactic to force compliance, to win.

Uzi, who has been in solitary confinement for two weeks for being "too active" in the detention center halls, is on day 2 of his hunger strike. He is experiencing difficulties being able to chew and speak because of the pain in his molars.

2 more potential hunger strikes are happening inside NWDC less than a month into the new year. La Resistencia was unable to get in touch with contacts to speak with people on strike, or learn about their demands.

Joel and Ricardo ended their hunger strike by force early this morning because they felt they were slowly dying, but their demands are still not met. If their demands are not met by tonight they will start their hunger strike again.

Rogelio has diabetes and goes to dialysis three times a week. He has recently been forced to have his feet cuffed. Officer Miller is the one forcing Rogelio have his feet cuffed. Rogelio has a medical document stating that he is not to have his feet cuffed because of previous injuries to his feet.
