Monday morning and I’m hoping to get back in the studio if the distractions of the garden aren’t too distracting to do a bit more to my hedgehog icon. Wishing everyone a productive week

Today was spent hosting an art day Ten people having a go at ink & feather drawing & pastels in the afternoon. Lots of cake was eaten especially by Bryn the terrier who was caught licking the buttercream off the last of the coffee & walnut. New friendships grew. Laughter & birdsong. Happy times

This lotion of a wren in the travellers joy is off to its new home in the Wirral . It’s always hard to part with a wren so I will have to paint a new one.

Morning coffee by the wildlife pond and what was to be a late breakfast but if you turn the sound up as well as hearing the birds singing you can hear Bryn scoffing a bagel off camera that was to be mine! 😂

I’ve just watched a pair of Bullfinches eating dandelion seeds from my kitchen window. As far as six am on a Monday morning goes that’s got to be the tops! They are such handsome colourful little characters

Only the blacking of the lead left to do…phew! My first attempt at stained glass is nearly finished and I wish I could do it all over again as all I can see are the imperfections and the things I want to do better.

The first flag Iris are opening by the wildlife pond. I love painting them in watercolour because they are beautiful & my therapy The process of intense looking & colour matching is calming & good for my mental health. Sometimes making art is not about the end product but about the making & feeling

Our rural foxes aren’t like urban ones. They’re much shyer slightest sound disturbs them from the hunt. Out in broad daylight must mean there’s a den full of cubs to feed. A gift of food will be on its way to my beloved foxes later today. The pounce at the end is beautiful. Filming from my porch 😉

And it’s goodnight from Bryn the Welsh Terrier. I hope you sleep as well as a happy tired dog with a tummy full of roast dinner after another busy day

The family is coming for the bank holiday weekend so I’ve been busy in the kitchen making a vegan chocolate cake with rose petals and rose flavoured Turkish delight on chocolate frosting. Perfect for the dairy and egg intolerant amongst us.

Today’s moment of calm was found starting this painting of a little hedgehog looking up at me from the barrel topped lid of this vintage box, lined with original paper with a star motif. Perfect for this endangered nocturnal creature. It will join the other endangered boxes in my next exhibition

Today’s moment of calm Everything must take its natural course. This little mouse with honeysuckle tendril must wait to dry before I add it to my website. Then I must wait for someone to buy it. In the meantime we can all just take a moment to appreciate the little things that make life worthwhile

I just walked into my studio & felt compelled to say how grateful I am to be here. After a lifetime of ups and downs there were many times when I felt like checking out permanently. I’m so glad I didn’t because this feels like my happy ending. So hang on in there because it might get better ❤️‍🩹

The bathroom window is nearly finished and this afternoon my teacher, who’s in the photo on the right, gave me a gold ⭐! As an abject failure and disappointment at school, undiagnosed dyslexia & ADHD , I can’t tell you how happy this made me

Today’s moment of calm for me is getting back to the stained glass workshop in Tenby. The sun is shining. The beach is calling and there might be ice cream 🩷❤️🩷

Managed to paint a bit more squirrel this afternoon

Started a sleeping red squirrel painting on the lid of this vintage box. I’ve hoovered the house. Put the laundry on & taken my meds. Now I need to tidy my studio before the Art courier turns up & I’m left feeling ashamed by the chaos that results from an intense work period. Artists aren’t lazy 😂

It’s a windy day here in Pembrokeshire. I’m impressed that the Japanese cherry is hanging on to her petals. I don’t know why but I always get high anxiety when the wind gets up strong. I like to stay indoors and cuddle the dog until it’s over
