Making individual jewels with silver & pearls today. I’m thinking about to gilding the Easter bunny with a pearl in her basket so she looks more magical and stands out. Both ready to hang from a fine chain or an earring

I took one on a train journey with my grandfather in Austria , he got the waiter in the dining car to bring my bee sugar cubes.The waiter had gold epaulets & was v dapper

Take a break from doomscrolling and have a look at my icon of a little mouse with her stitchwort garland instead. A mouse after all is a mini miracle in itself. If you look at all the things mankind has created it has never created anything as complex and perfect as a mouse.

Living in a small house makes one edit life to the essentials. From the people we share our space with to the objects we keep. IE the bottle opener is essential a pasta machine isn’t. I chose a small house with a sixty acre garden. Sometimes I wish I had an extra room. Not when I’m paying bills

I woz going to attend a class today in bronze clay. I woz going to make a rat. I woz looking forward to it. I’d paid. But instead I’m stuck at home with a stinky cold stinging eyes and a throbbing head, feeling extremely sorry for myself indeed

All cut and now the incredibly fiddly bit leading each individual piece.

I’m about halfway through creating this triptych of King Arthur’s Chough. Building up layers of tiny plants on the cliff edge for its toes to sink into. Two layers of extra thick 23 carat gold leaf. Repainting and restoring the details of the original panel. A labour of love. My favourite bird.

Bryn is off to the groomers today. So I thought I’d brush him out first to remove any knots or tangles. We don’t treat him with any chemicals for fleas or ticks. He’s never had fleas & a tick remover does what it says on the tin. So all this lovely wool can now be gifted to the birds for their nests

Today’s moment of calm A detail from a triptych I painted about the biodiversity of a particular hedgerow on our land. Most farmers thrashed the living daylights out of hedges due to economic choice. Much of our biodiversity relies upon hedges not just as corridors but for food & shelter.

The volunteers are here today for the first day of spring volunteering so I’ve been in the kitchen making cherry scones for them and now the house smells delicious and it’s time to find my Wellington boots

As I work on this icon, with rain drumming on the studio roof, I think about all the hedgehogs curled up asleep in their leafy beds. If you’re tidying up your garden please check carefully in all the places they might be before using the dreaded strimmer.

Fabulous day tinkering with my first attempt at stained glass. Then watching the pond wriggle with newts and crazy Caddis fly larva in their stunning homes built from pond detritus.
