Middleton Scouts got close to nature on a weekend residential at Low Way farm, Holwick, thanks to Generation Green funding. They did a winter tree ID & nature-spotting walk to Bowlees farm where they helped feed animals, learned about lambing & cuddled the goat kids. “Now I can spot hazel & alder."

Water voles are Britain’s fastest declining mammals & are threatened with extinction. The #NorthPennines is still home to water voles, in the upper reaches of our rivers. You may not easily be able to spot these elusive mammals, but where the habitat is right, you can often see evidence of them.
