With ongoing flurries moving through Pittsburgh, and temperatures below freezing, I’ve called in the Department of Public Works nightshift early for a 12-hour shift. There will be 40 trucks on the roads citywide until 10PM. There will be 20 trucks overnight to salt slick spots and problem areas.

It was great to be with Senator Fontana and Councilman Wilson for a walking tour of Troy Hill hosted by Representative Powell. From Cowley-Goettman Recreation Center to the Lowrie Street business district, we must invest in our parks and main streets.

Calling all Snow Angels! It was great to sit down with my Community Affairs team to call volunteers to sign them up for the City’s Snow Angels program. We pair older residents & people with disabilities with neighbors to assist with snow removal on their sidewalks & walkways.

I know you want to see improved snow removal. Today, I convened leadership from the Departments of Public Works & Innovation & Performance to discuss previous storm responses. We must plan for the rest of the year, next winter & making the investments needed for decades to come.

We have to grow and support our small and local businesses in Pittsburgh. Today, my economic development team joined me to call ten businesses to thank them for their investment in our city and to see what else we can do to help them thrive.

It was great to stop by Primanti Bros. in the Strip District for lunch with local and national IBEW leadership!

A busy day at City Hall! Today I met with City Council Leadership, my Cabinet and Authority directors, and my staff to discuss our priorities and goals for our Administration.

It was great to spend time with our seniors in the West End today. Councilwoman Salinetro, my Acting Director of CitiParks, Eric Sloan, and I spoke with residents who rely on the community, companionship, and services provided by our recreation and senior centers.

This morning, I had breakfast with Council President Lavelle at Grandma B’s. I cannot wait to work with him on equitable development, investment, and community building in the Hill District.

This morning, I signed my first Executive Order to speed up permitting in Pittsburgh. From simple home renovations, to small business development, to our next major headquarters, it’s too cumbersome to do business in Pittsburgh - that has to change.

Good morning, Pittsburgh! I’m committed to making Pittsburgh every family’s first choice. This morning, I joined a local family on their walk to Pittsburgh Public Schools Colfax to hear about the family’s daily experience and explore the safety of their route together.

After visiting CitiParks Senior Center in Sheraden, community leaders & I met with Christy Porter at the Jasmine Nyree Campus. The Porters have created a space for so many in Pittsburgh’s West End. They provide support to neighbors with a focus on those with special needs.

This morning, I joined Councilwoman Kail-Smith & Councilwoman-Elect Salinetro at the Sheraden Healthy Active Living Center! Thank you to all the CitiParks staff who make our senior and recreational centers so wonderful for our neighbors during the holidays.

This morning, I joined the Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University for their Press Forward Foundation Event. Press Forward is a nationwide network of media professionals working to strengthen local news so our neighbors stay informed, connected, and engaged.

Another great Greenfield Holiday Parade! Thank you to all the community members, organizers, and participants who have made this parade such a beloved neighborhood tradition for over 30 years.

It was great to join the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO for their 26th Annual Stuff the Bus Event! Fantastic to see so many neighbors donating toys to stuff a PRT bus to benefit the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

It was great to attend the Champions of Change fundraiser in the Strip District. The event supported Casa San Jose & Pittsburgh Action Against Rape. Two community organizations who provide support to vulnerable Pittsburghers. The value of their work is truly incalculable.

It was great to be in Hazelwood Green this afternoon. I visited Motional’s Pittsburgh plant to see the latest developments in the autonomous vehicle industry. The research and development done at our universities was a crucial piece of the industry’s creation.

It was great to join community leaders for the groundbreaking of the Esplanade project in Manchester & Chateau. Our riverfronts are part of the fabric of Pittsburgh. The project reconnects neighborhoods, brings resources, amenities, & more to neighborhoods hurt by urban renewal.

Happy Thanksgiving, Pittsburgh. Last night, my family and I spent time at the 51st Annual Albright Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Over the past week, I’ve seen so many organizations supporting their neighbors. I’m so thankful to call this city home.

It was great to join Councilman Wilson to welcome Orr’s Jewelers to their new home in the Strip District. Orr’s has been a part of the Pittsburgh community since 1996. It’s always wonderful to see a locally owned business need to expand into new space!

Spent some time pitching in at the 5th Annual “BurghProud” food distribution this afternoon. It was good to be with the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, & Giant Eagle. Each year they’ve partnered with the Food Bank to support families in need. I’m thankful for all of Pittsburgh’s community partners!

It was great giving remarks at the new Mosaic Apartment dedication in Oakland today. It’s a remarkable affordable housing project that is Pittsburgh’s first LGBTQ+ senior housing community.

It was great to join our senior neighbors in Homewood today at the CitiParks Healthy Active Living Center for their annual Thanksgiving lunch. I’m thankful to all the wonderful City employees who made this afternoon special for so many.
