(1/5) Since I’ve been getting some questions about this CRT shader, I wanted to give a quick explanation of how it works. I didn’t just tune it against reference images; I tried to model the actual NTSC composite signal path. To clarify, I split the shader into two parts.

Crisp, sharp pixel art is great too, but when it’s displayed through a CRT shader, it feels alive—and that’s what I love about it.

(1/2) For my own games, I usually go with pixel art plus a CRT shader. But one issue I kept running into is that the art can feel a little different once it’s actually displayed through the shader compared to the raw pixel art. So I ended up making a tool for myself that lets me draw pixel art

In REECHO, you can move back and forth between Worlds A and B at any time, but once your energy runs out, you end up wandering along the boundary between them. It creates a pretty interesting visual: a dialogue whose world—A or B—has not yet been determined.

I’ve been having an AI play Undertale, and it made it this far, but it might not be able to go any further lol. By the way, it doesn’t know any internal game data; it’s controlling the game based only on the visuals.

(1/2) I saw a post about a game that took three years to develop and only sold 77 copies. The trailer was beautiful, and personally, the game looked really appealing to me. But 77 copies… I’m at a loss for words. With AI, more and more high-quality games are probably going to keep coming out.

I’m developing a game targeting a fairly low-performance PC I have on hand: a Surface Pro 7. If it can run at 60 FPS on this machine, it should work without issues on a wide range of environments. The Surface Pro 7 also tends to hit thermal throttling pretty quickly.
