Makoto Kobayashi Newtype March 1987 A painful two page spread stitch. Mr. Kobayashi's deep texture layers of hatching and screen tone makes for a lot more effort in blending and fill. A glorious work, with a near perfect checklist of all that is good in traditional SF illustration.

Did a rescale and slight layout adjustment to this Rabidly Dog Blueprint from Dual Magazine no.9 (June 1984). The original was 1/35 scale but 1/72 moves A.T.'s to a very manageable ~6cm tall. Seems a fun modeling project. Sourced from the excellent Votoms section of @timeldred.bsky.social 's site.

Figured out a thing. Though that annoying seam has to go. photoshop and blender.

One of my hobbies is the digital cleaning of poorly scanned or photographed SF art while respecting the source material. (I.E. No AI upscaling, descreening, respectful color grading, etc) Removing the dust, fibers, creases, tears, logos and branding can be a pleasant way to unwind.

It's been a long winter, but drawing SD Macross can brighten your mood and cover your desk with eraser crumbs. The bottom and left VF-1J's were drawn while referring to the original production materials.

Nice. Zeonic released their retranslation of M.S. Era. One of the most refined Gundam artbooks with a powerhouse team coming off their work on 0080: War in the Pocket.

Front Mission is one of those game series that just never quite made it. Niche genre (mecha) in a niche genre (turn based tactics videogames). Playing Pokémon again after all these years has really opened my eyes to some squandered potential in gameplay.
