Pramoedya Ananta Toer was the preeminent author of resistance-liberation and post-independence literature in Indonesia. His novel Keluarga gerilja chronicles the tragic consequences of divided political sympathies in a Javanese family during the Indonesian Revolution against Dutch rule.
