There’s (understandably) a lot of fear circulating right now. See if you can set aside time to intentionally stay updated and active, and also set aside time for rest and joy. We need both. Neither an endless fear spiral nor tapping out helps.

If your copy editor doesn’t use a style sheet, they’re not performing a copy edit. If your copy editor doesn’t give you the style sheet back with your edits, they aren’t providing the full scope of a copy edit. Always ensure your copy editor uses a style sheet AND gives it to you when they’re done.

I keep trying to get back into writing but the motivation is just zapped. Same for trying to think up a new project. And then I realized I might be in burnout and not have realized. 😬🫠 When I’m in burnout, my desire to create art goes first.

I cannot repeat this enough. Don’t ever go broke over your book. You deserve financial security in what forms you can get it. Find workarounds, lean on community, use free or inexpensive resources, and then PUBLISH anyway. 👏🏻❤️

Saying authors need thick skin is ableist. Many disabled people struggle with Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria due to past experiences and *cannot* develop thick skin. And that’s okay. Be soft. Be sensitive. Keep writing.
