Matt Seelinger will make his big-league debut in the seventh inning of a 9-9 game. Seelinger grew up about 15 mins from Citi Field, coming to games here all the time (even if he conceded he was a Yankees fan). "I couldn't dream it up any better," he said before the game.

Seth Lugo's first game back at Citi Field since he was a Met is not going well. Juan Soto's three-run homer makes it 9-4 New York in the fourth inning.

NYM 3 TOR 9 Final Freddy Peralta was hit hard, and the defense was spotty behind him. The Mets lose another series -- their fifth straight. The Mets are 36-51.

Peralta's final line: 4 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 91-52-9. The defense was not helpful, as is its wont.

Another start going sideways for Freddy Peralta. A two-out RBI double by Ernie Clement is followed by a three-run, opposite-field homer for Sean Keys. It's 5-0 Toronto in the third.

In Toronto today, Stearns declined to comment on his job status.

With Eric Wagaman pinch-hitting for Brett Baty last half-inning, Bo Bichette is sliding over to second base for the first time this season. It's actually the first time he's ever played second in a big-league regular-season game, though he handled it pretty well last October.
