John Bakker spoke about his project to paint portraits of people who live, work, worship, shop, or visit Old Town neighborhood of Chicago’s. Sponsored by neighborhood art center Art on Sedgwick. Completed it will be 400 portraits on 317 panels, on display at Public Library 310 West Division Street.

This was not difficult to predict. There is a malignancy in our national culture that we pretend is not there and will just go away if we cross our fingers and wish hard enuff. My drawings from 3, 12, & 18 years ago.

Rider got on shortly after I boarded the #22 by Zoo en route to Evanston. A long ride & she rode a good portion. Bumps jerked my line, slowed me down, made haste during stops. Shirt, peacock blue, may add it, but this is what I got when I wuz stalking the game. Hmm, not sure that came out right.

You’d never know that’s Mary Qian on the far right, cause I absolutely blew a likeness. Oh well….

Looked like a grey day in Lincoln Park yesterday, but it was just that I drew on grey paper. The man was playing fetch with his dog, so I did what I could, but my stop action looks a tad wooden.

The life of a model is not always so glamorous, eh? A 3 hour pose (w/ breaks) wherein body parts might start going numb. I worked on this for 40 some minutes. At my age, the arm on the knee, fingers propping the head, shin and toes underneath would all have gone numb.

Got right in the thick of it at the No Kings Protest which met at Chicago’s Picasso statue in Daley Plaza. Trow da bum owt!!!
