This is not what is usually meant by electoral college reform. It’s Bellows and Pingree btw. That one vote would not have made a difference in 2024, even if every state split them like acc to @mainemorningstar.com from 2025 based on analysis by the Nebraska Examiner.

Since I’m on a Maine suffrage kick, here is Lucy Nicolar Poolaw, voting for the first time in 1954 when Maine finally allowed Native Americans to vote. She was a member of the Penobscot nation and active in the suffrage movement. Suffs leaves this part out. #hatm

This is one those patriotic women giving service to the war. She joined the Red Cross and helped gather medical supplies. She will go on to be the first woman elected to both houses of Congress and to have her name on the nomination ballot for a major party. Her name? Margaret Chase Smith. #hatm

Gerald Talbot showcased the best of Maine. In addition to his own contributions, he also worked to gather and highlight Maine’s Black history, which often gets left out. I’m so glad he was recognized in his lifetime. A real Mainer of genius.
