In today's AdRic I got the points cost of the Nightbringer from the 3rd ed Necron codex wrong and I am annoyed about it for two reasons: 1) I nearly said 350 points, but that didn't seem right (but it was SO close) 2) I said 300 because something about it rang a bell (that's the Deciever's cost)

Ian Watson wrote the first Warhammer 40,000 novels I ever read, the Jaq Draco Inquisitor trilogy in the early 90s. Say what you want about certain elements of them - I have - but if you want a real handle on exactly how utterly batshit 40k should be, I think you can do no better. RIP.
