We are saddened to share the passing of retired LVMPD Undersheriff Donald L. Denison. Mr. Denison, 87, passed away peacefully on August 16. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served our community with honor as undersheriff of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department until his retirement in 1981.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of LVMPD K9 Hunter. At 14 years old, after 2 ½ years of retirement, Hunter left us doing what he loved most, driving into a bite while in the arms of his lifelong partner, retired Officer Jeff Corbett.

🚫🐶 Hot Weather Warning for Pet Owners ☀️🚗 As temperatures rise, so do the dangers for our pets. DO NOT leave animals in hot vehicles, yards, balconies, or other spaces without shade, ventilation, and water. Even a few minutes in extreme heat can lead to serious injury or death.

An Educated Community is a Safer Community! Earlier today, LVMPD South Central Area Command stopped by a local apartment complex to hand-deliver backpacks filled with school supplies. We want to uplift families and students so they are prepared as we approach the new school year.

Backpack Giveaway! 🎒 Doolittle Community Center held a backpack giveaway earlier today for children and teens heading back to school. Community partners handed out resources and school supplies, as well as opportunities for free haircuts.

Children of the community headed to the East Las Vegas Center for a fun back-to-school event. The LVMPD Office of Community Engagement, along with other agencies and organizations around the valley, handed out school supplies and resources to kids to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

Operation Chill 🥶 The LVMPD teamed up with 7-Eleven to kick off this year's Operation Chill! 7-Eleven is providing our officers 26,000 free Slurpee® coupons to be distributed to kids in the community who are observed doing good deeds or making positive choices.

Today, officers from the LVMPD Southeast Area Command spent the day connecting with the community at the Hollywood Aquatic Center during a fun pool day. Events like this provide an opportunity for law enforcement to build meaningful relationships and strengthen trust with the families they serve!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY! 🎅 This morning, LVMPD officers and employees, and fellow Las Vegas first responders teamed up to take children from across the valley on a special shopping trip to Goodwill. Each child received $100 to pick out whatever they wanted. They even got to snap a photo with Santa!

Today, LVMPD Officers Fitzpatrick, Noone, and Sarkissian were recognized by UMC for their life-saving efforts of a women who was shot multiple times a few months back. Their quick thinking and training allowed them to effectively stabilize her enough to be transported to the hospital.
