From the Chicago web site: Almost all (97.3%) typed flu specimens for the week are flu A; among those subtyped 63% have been H1N1 and 37% H3N2. So it seems like the recent surge in flu is H1N1, which can be virulent in elderly and immunocompromised patients. No sign of bird flu here yet.

A recent comment on autism recalled to me a conversation I had with a psychiatrist. The gist was that autism often presents two communications problems. One is a misperception by the person with autism; the other is a misperception by the neurotypical person.
