I haven't posted regularly because we are on the verge of being done with the "creation" part, and about to start the "tuning" part - expect an onslaught of content then :) An (incomplete) preview of the player arsenal (missing 2 bows)... #VR, #pixelart, #gamedev

With more than 90% of the content done, I'm finally able to finish all the island minimaps: displayed on the player grimoire they feature major landmarks, quests or zones of interest. I can now experience Drakkenridge as a whole, and hopefully soon, you too! #VR, #pixelart

One thing can be heart-breaking when you are a dev: content you made that needs to be cut out, because of time left, because you can't fit it in the "polish loop", because it's "unfocused"...Bye bye Ork Island, maybe see you as an expansion? #VR, #pixelart, #lowpoly

A fun part when doing a dungeon kit, is to use it in a "pristine" state, but also in a "completely ruined" way ... it allows visual diversity in the dungeon, make it feel "lived-in", and it's just generally fun to set-dress :) (dungeon still mostly untextured) #VR, #IndieGameDev

Progress on the Dwarf dungeon - each new dungeon is an interesting "puzzle" to make, as I want them to feel "different" than the others. This one is built like an outdoor environment, but indoors... it will be absolutely gigantic! #VR, #lowpoly, #pixelart

4 days ago, I posted pics of the dungeon lighting blockout... since then, I started texturing: still a LOT missing (particularly secondary and tertiary details) but here's a screen of where it's at... #VR, #lowpoly, #pixelart

finishing the Atlas VS density question: here you have 3 atlases present: n, n+1 and n+2... the density between n and n+1 is identical... n+2 atlases big items, like large rocks, etc... and I deemed it OK that the density would be 2 to 1 (so the pixels on the rocks are larger)

to continue on the Atlas: here's an example of my modular kit for the Dwarf dungeon - in cyan (selected) this is Atlas 1 out of 4. It's a 2K texture with all the assets on it. Some other atlases are 4K (because pixel art, I need to preserve as much as possible Texel density) #VR

After I posted my Atlasing video last year, I've had lots of people asking how do I proceed if there's a need for more than 1 atlas: here's an example - the whole dungeon is using 4 atlased materials in total (not counting the terrain mat) >>> 12 draw calls max in most places #VR
