America is in trouble. Spread the word.
Where will future first ladies have an office for their work? Or is that a quaint notion, since first ladies will simply accompany their husbands to events for which he needs to be seen with a spouse, and have no other involvements.

People on boats being killed at the direction of Trump. They are being murdered. Rampant disregard of people's lives. After this horrible episode is over, which rescuing army is going to show American citizens (as Allied soldiers did after WWII) how evil our government was that we didn't stop.

Who is going to show American citizens how wrong (evil, corrupt) our government was during the Trump years -- and we allowed it -- once this episode of history is over?

This Halloween season we need not look to find that scariest film we use to get us into the world of uncertainty and horror. We are living in a horror right now of the nightmarish destruction of our government and our society that we thought were invincibly stable.

Trump and Stephen Miller’s authoritarian playbook is painfully predictable: 1️⃣ Target a Democratic city 2️⃣ Lie about crime 3️⃣ Deploy heavily armed agents to aggressively detain innocent people and violate their rights 4️⃣ Create stress and chaos 5️⃣ Use self-created chaos as excuse for militarization

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even King Charles does not demand of "his subjects" what Wannabe King Donald is expecting of people, including military, elected, appointed, and former leaders, in the United States.

All of these motions by Republicans to increase the likelihood that Republicans will have more people elected into office are an afront to the people of the country. Staying in power is more important than serving what We The People want. I am becoming so depressed with what we've become.

Looking at the tons of signs used over the weekend on the various protest gatherings. All of these should be mailed to the White House to Trump's attention. The 12 or 15 Million or more protesters next time around can create new signs.

Is it a government shutdown we're experiencing right now, or (more correctly) a citizens' services shutdown? It seems to me that all elected and appointed government personnel are still being paid and, except for Congress, are fully functioning.

Early morning in Louisiana and I encounter a group of old geezers lamenting how that Kanaka Harris and those Obama henchmen should all be shot for treason. My guess is they won't be taking part in the No Kings protest today. What in the world happened in their education and upbringing!

Observation: Government is shut down, yet Congress continues to be paid, courts continue to operate, the President and his cabinet continue to do their thing, the military is going to get paid, and ICE carries on as before. Seems like only the support services for citizenry are what is shut down.

Trump is being lauded today for all that is happening in the Mideast. I continue to have severe doubts about his skill, knowledge, and awareness of global diplomacy and elements of peace. Am I being unfair in my view?

"Blame the Democrats for the shutdown.". If they say it often enough, they believe the people will believe the falsehood is actually true. That is one of the things Trump taught us.

I hate to say this but I would seriously like to see a sacrificial lamb with ICE holding a gun to a woman and shooting and killing. The absolute HORROR of what is happening in the US has fit to be made manifest to all, and government agents threatening with guns is approaching its obvious end goal.

Pamela Bondi. What a bitch. I am so horrified that such is the Attorney General. Our country is in a sick mess, and the Republicans are allowing it to fester and decay. We are in trouble.

At what point is Trump going to up the ante -- as he always does to show his power is greater than that of anyone challenging him -- to dropping bombs on cities to "stop the crime in those cities like he has to do"?

Speaker Johnson is being paid right now even as "government is shut down." No congressman is losing pay over the government shut down. So, that is not a reason to hold up the swearing in of Arizona representative Adelita. His response to the question asked of him on Meet the Press warrants followup.

The mayor of Chicago did not answer a direct question "Did you ask for a meeting with the WH". This failure hurts credibility. Answer the question. And go to the WH and demand stopping the military invasion.

Yes! America is under attack from within. And as awful as it might be, we may need the military to squash, control, and eradicate what has taken hold of the White House if Congress and the Supreme Court do not do their jobs.

"Congress shall make no law.... " are the opening words of the First Amendment. Does this also stop the president from taking any Executive Action that removes freedoms listed in the First Amendment? I hope to God, Yes it does so limit what the president can do.

There are Morning News Shows speaking to this notion, and its truth has to be spread far and wide. More people have got to be made aware of what is happening and how we are letting it happen through our collective inaction.

How many times are we going to discuss over and over that Congress is failing to do its part to reign in Trump's unchecked power before ACTION is taken? We can all see the Rule of Law is being ignored by Trump, and EVERYBODY now is letting that happen. Silence is ascent.

This cannot be overstated. We are not "sliding down a slippery slope to autocracy". We are there, even if white middle class don't sense it yet. But they will eventually unless it is stopped.

How is it that Trump speaks of Comey as a sick person, a bad person, words to disparage and cast negative thoughts; and yet Trump himself is a sick person, a bad person, a narcissistic vengeful person unfit for the Office of President, and others are not shouting that right back at him?

Stop saying we're in a slippery slope toward authoritarianism. That's level ground around us. This is authoritarianism. If you're white and/or have either money or a red cap, things look pretty nice.

Did a 1945 Army memo predict today's politics? The people who rid the world of Nazis warned of what American fascism would look like. Check this out and tell me if it doesn't look eerily familiar:

Reflecting on spokesperson's words. To speak of our founding document that points out inalienable rights where the first is life (and Charlie Kirk's was taken), and to follow that up with a warning that Utah still has the death penalty (implying what's in store for the culprit) seems incongruous.
