Tell me some books that you’ve enjoyed as audiobooks. I have some Audible credits I need to use and I can’t decide what to get.

Village life means that a traffic jam is caused by the lady down the street walking her sheep back home, and two other cars waiting to come the opposite way than I was headed down our one-lane, two-way road. I really need to install a support for my phone so I can video while I’m driving.

Evening views from my new home. I’m not going to lie—I’m ridiculously excited about that little stone bench in my yard.

I signed the rental contract on my new house today. While I’m excited about having a house v an apartment, I think I’m mostly excited about a yard and living in a village.

Today I had lunch with friends from Peru, Venezuela, Spain, and the US. The use of “American” came up. It’s amazing how civilly a conversation can go when you come at it with curiosity rather than assumptions. We didn’t solve the world’s problems, but we understand each other a little better.

As you may have heard, much of Spain and Portugal were affected by a wide power outage on Monday. The power went out about 12:30pm, and my cell service followed about an hour later. Something just woke me up at about 3:15am—I’m assuming it was the power coming back on.

This trip to Scotland now feels complete. I’ve been searching for lambs for the past week, but they seem pretty good at hiding.

Part of my afternoon consisted of brushing up on some Spanish grammar, and listening to some Portuguese audio exercises. Then I met up with a couple classmates to help with their English, but half our conversation was in Gallego. Then I ended the day with two hours of Portuguese class.

Someone on FB was lamenting that Canada geese are being round up and k*illed because they are a nuisance in urban areas. To be clear, I am not FOR this idea. However, this same person was cheering on deportation and keeping “illegals” out of our country. If it were up to me, I’d keep the people.

My brother is a paramedic, so he often responds to emergency situations. It’s his job. But it’s also just who he is. I don’t know many people that are as kind and selfless as he is, and who genuinely like to help others. I’m thankful they were there at the right time.

Even after 10 years living in Spain I’m always thrown off a bit by the arrival of Carnaval. Like, why am I walking past a woman dressed as a penguin, or nearly running into a man dressed as Robin (tights included), but no Batman in sight?

I wish I could help more people understand that just because Trump, Vance, Musk, Et al., says something does not mean it’s true. In fact, it’s very likely untrue, exaggerated, or twisted in some way.

These are not the best pictures I’ve ever taken, but sometimes I’m still surprised I live in a country where you can look at a 15th C. castle from the gas station parking lot as I did this evening.

My sister has been doing some family ancestry investigating—and we are related to an Elizabeth Bennet who was born long ago in England. And I just want to pretend that she had four sisters, and a mother with “poor nerves” that her dear father put up with for the last twenty years.
