first few hours of vesperia are definitely better than symphonia's but it'll take awhile for the characters to grow on me. vesperia also has some of the worst sfx of all time, true to one of its predecessors

not sold on their dynamic but it's good to know skits are still doing the heavy lifting

got up to the door of the final boss. i'll try to do a few side quests, at minimum i'll try to the ultimate weapon one if the boss isn't too ridiculous. there was also the maxwell summon spirit too

unbelievable there's a whole story dungeon dedicated to getting a sword and a big story moment where someone gives you a second sword, then the next dungeon has a chest with better dual swords in it

i think symphonia endgame combat would be fun if you could juggle multiple enemies at once. certainly one of the games lets you do this

the layers to it are great too. the private conversation between raine and regal discussing whose life they should prioritize in an emergency since they're the only mature enough party members to have that conversation was good

i think the character tropes heavily hold back some of the early parts of symphonia's cast dynamics. but i'm more surprised how (almost) each of those tropes got addressed along the way. you get lloyd smart moments. you get raine apologizing for her demeanor. you get zelos being authentic

cloverworks just going in on the yuri anime. very good
