AFAIK, zbrush doesn't really have a 'relax' brush. Even alt smooth will destroy your volumes a bit. A work around is storing a morph target that has the volume you want, smoothing or moving your topo, and then using Project Morph in the Morph Target sub menu. #zbrush

Local symmetry in Zbrush has been a pain... Did you know if you turn off "Dynamic" for local symmetry, it works the way you expect it to when you have a mirrored subtool? How am I just finding out about this?🤦‍♂️
