I knew there were stories to be told when I set up Homecare Voices, but nothing could have prepared me for when the floodgates opened. The state of employment in much of domiciliary care is a national disgrace. Help us shine a light if you can.

One of the toughest aspects of direct care work can be the way you are made to feel about your occupation by others. The story Hannah tells in this short blog speaks volumes:

⏳️Some homecare workers report that when they spend less time than scheduled at a care visit, their pay is reduced to reflect that... 🚩 but when they spend more time than scheduled, they are not paid the extra 🤷♀️ A fascinatingly one-sided use of technology.

Think this is accurate but the cause of the
#socialcare
impasse seems to me driven not just by concern about costs and uncertainty about solutions but a more fundamental lack of understanding about the underlying problems.
