This week, a constituent told me about a child they met at a local food giveaway.  A little girl looked around and said, "Look, Mom. We can make sandwiches now!"  No parent should have their grocery money snatched away from them. No child should ever go hungry.

UPDATE: Trump backtracked and threatened to refuse to release any SNAP funds. Then the White House backtracked on Trump's backtrack.    He has the funds. He has a court order. The Trump administration must ensure 22 million children don't go hungry.

The Trump administration has the funds to FULLY sustain SNAP through November. But he’s only funding it partially, doing the bare minimum to satisfy a court order. He’s playing politics with children’s hunger, and it’s despicable.

The majority party in Congress sets the voting schedule. House Republicans canceled votes for all of the entire week. They haven't scheduled a vote since September 19.  Remember that the next time they try to blame the shutdown on Democrats.

The House floor today. On the Democratic side, seats are filled. On the Republican side – empty.   Government funding expires at midnight. Republicans didn’t even show up to work.

A government shutdown is likely happening tonight. But Republicans aren't even in DC to negotiate. Democrats have one request: don't take healthcare away from millions of Americans.

In June, police officers who bravely defended the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, filed a lawsuit. Why? Congress passed a law directing the permanent display of a plaque honoring the police heroes who were injured or died as a result of Jan. 6 – but House Republicans refused to comply.

My stance is clear. I will support bipartisan funding that improves the health, safety, and economic well-being of everyday Americans.    I will NOT support a partisan Republican bill that rips health care away from the American people.
