npm workspaces are one of those things where the entire JS ecosystem collectively agreed to not look under the hood. I looked. It's symlinks, a fake root package, and the ol' trusty node_modules folder walk algorithm. That's it. That's the whole feature.

Most JS devs use npm workspaces every day without knowing how they actually work. I wrote a gentle intro to how they actually work. Turns out it's symlinks and a bit of smoke and mirrors.

Do you use generators in JS? I never had the actual need until today: I'm using regex to match imports in some JS code and then yield the results one by one.

Open up my old
@nuxt.com
2 blog. Realise it fails due using Node 20. Upgrade my Nuxt 2 version to latest, it works! But then the types start to giving me grief. Is it due to my VS Code setup being too new?

Another day, another
@vite.dev
plugin written. The API is so easy that I never fear writing ad-hoc plugins like this one. It validates the client env vars in build-time with a Zod schema. Is this good enough? Am I missing something?
