I will never stop advocating for libraries, their services, and their staff - especially when it’s affecting me and people I care about directly.

These are also cuts for the Council of Atlantic Academic Libraries, which is a consortium of public post-secondary institutions across Atlantic Canada who buy resources together and more broadly across Canada. We know we are stronger together. We know we are more efficient together.

The cuts at NSCC are also cuts for Novanet, the consortium for public post-secondary institutions in Nova Scotia, and Mount Allison in New Brunswick. We share resources. We pool together to have catalogue software that serves the province. We work together. This is devastating in so many ways.

NSCC was affected by the Houston government’s recent budget cuts, the college’s answer to the deficit from these funding losses was to cut jobs. Yesterday, myself and all my librarian colleagues found out that we were losing our jobs, that there would no longer be librarians at NSCC campuses.

OK SO, 25% book tariffs are set to go live April 2. this is tricky for a number of reasons but the simplest is that most books are published & warehoused in the US, even those by Canadian authors, so this makes it infinitely more complicated than "Buy Canadian Authors" or slapping on a sticker

What a weird, little book. Of course I loved it.

A pal and I were chatting about book to movie adaptations the other day, and I had mentioned that I thought the adaptation of Atonement was a smidge better than the book. This made me curious to know what you might think: what is an adaptation - good or bad - that has stuck with you over the years?

I would love to get a non-fiction history book recommendation about an event in history that is so weird and niche, that it can become my whole personality once I read it. Got any? Let me know.
