Every cut I’ve gotten here, even from curly hair specialists, they straighten and cut. Then it looks atrocious if I don’t straighten it. And I refuse to do that any longer. Curly hair can hide a lot of sins but not if you ignore the curl pattern.

Trimmed my hair and didn’t cut myself bangs. So we’re calling this a win. Lol trimming isn’t unusual- curly hair and many bad cuts later, if I’m just wanting off an inch or so, I do it myself since thus far, I’ve done a better job than many expensive cuts. Bangs would be a cry for help, tho.

My head is dark and just damn. Someday I’ll be less overwhelmed but that day sure as fuck isn’t today.

It is quite hilarious how exhausted my brother and I both are after a week with our squirrels (aka 8 & 10yo nephews). Those ages are SO fun but holy shit exhausting. We were both dragging major ass today…and really, even the dog was worn out lol. Love them dearly and miss their chaos but yeah. Tired

Am currently eating gluten free tiramisu after a dinner of ribeyes and yep, the wonder twins did a great job for Father’s Day, hit the favorites for my brother and also me. I love those kids so dang much.

Soaking in my bathtub drinking cider and watching True Blood (comfort show baby!, judge away) after a week of family chaos that included some *really* heavy shit. Well. This is bliss.

It is also fun hearing about the billion and one ways my BIL got into trouble whilst attending USNA, like hilariously so. Mostly for stupid stuff but some very funny things in there, like I turned red laughing at one story today. Nephews didn’t care but my sister and I? Died laughing.

Walking around the Naval Academy today (BIL is an alum) and kept thinking the Midshipmen looked like my kids, like ages wise, and then it hit me. They are, in fact, the exact ages of my kids and wow, that was a *realization* lol. Sister, brother, and BIL laughed their asses off at me. Rightfully.

After the shit show of the last few days, spending today with my siblings and it ending with laughing for hours together, turns out, that was exactly what I needed.

We walked by as this was being filmed this afternoon 🤣. Trust that this is an absolute shit show. Generators everywhere, pumping water out into drainage ditches. Tons of people in waders trying to combat the algae that is clearly winning.

Today I’m doing my patriotic duty by spreading the plague downtown DC. Also, holy fracking shirtballs, I knew the mall was a mess but we vastly underestimated HOW much of a disaster it is.

Today was a lot, some crazy shit went down, but I’m focusing on the shining good and I’m so freaking proud of my kiddo. They’re such an awesome human, full stop, and I am so damn in awe.

It is bittersweet watching those videos, and I’m glad we’re finally able to watch again and laugh. Hearing Bill’s voice and laugh is hard but also, amazing. Miss that asshole…and especially his epic table dancing skills.

12 years ago today, I witnessed both my brothers drunker than ever seen before or since and that’s saying some shit. The handful of videos from that night have become family catchphrases, even. Brother, parents, and I just rewatched them and many cackles were had.

Leaving church today, walking out into the heavy humidity and clear storm brewing weather of the DC area, my mom made a joke about lightning striking a certain menace tonight and guys, I snorted. She gives no fucks anymore and it’s amazing.

I cannot decide which pasta salad I want to make for dinner tonight so being me, I’m making two.

Woke up with literally no voice. Surely that’s a good sign. Faaaaack. Not the time for this. Not. The. Time.

Went to a grad party tonight for one of 18’s besties - she’s such a doll and invited a handful of parents that have been other parents and it was just such a delight. It was nearly all theater kids, and damn, I love that group of kids so much. I can’t wait to see how they all fly 🩷

My mom, bless her heart, better never ever, ever say anything about me being stubborn again. Because yes, I may be quite stubborn, won’t deny it, however, holy shit, she’s the freaking Queen of Stubborn.

Something that hit me at 3am: I promised my kids before we moved to VA that this would be it, no more moving (ex was in the army, we moved, a lot), that we’d be here until both were done with school. Yesterday was the very last day of school for my youngest and my house hit the market. Feels poetic.

This picture feels…perfect. This kid is amazing, I am biased but once again, stole the show. They blossomed in high school, for sure, and I think college will be even better for them.

Tonight was the very last high school event, save for graduation, theater held their cabaret show on the very last day of school. And! My parents finally got to see 18 perform! Bittersweet, very last time for me, ever, being in the theater where I’ve spent so much time watching my kids.

Instead of wine, I took a nap. I never do that but damn, it was good.

Is it wine o’clock yet? Tell me it’s wine o’clock. Just lie to me. Yes, I know it’s 930 in the morning. Yes, I know I have epic shit tons of stuff to do. But also…I’m tired and it’s going to be a long afternoon and night and well.

Tonight is also the last night my house is *mine*, it’s officially on the market tomorrow. Buying this house, on my own, remains one of my proudest accomplishments. Clawed my way up and out after a divorce from hell, and did the damn thing. Next chapter will be amazing, but it’s still bittersweet.
