The story Peter tells isn't a problem. Nor is the "you should speak up" lesson. But the guilt trip that Ben lays at Peter's feet is gross. The shame Peter speaks of can be interpreted as lingering damage inflicted on him by Ben's assertion. Unbelievable.

Triumph #1 (1995) This "hero for our times" is so mind-numbingly obsessed with the 90s that it hurts. Triumph seems heavily tied into law enforcement jingoism. The dialogue is so bad that it's kind of impressive in a way. #ComicOfTheDay

Comic of the Day: Terror Inc. #1 This is kind of a mess of a first issue. The opening sequence alternates clumsily between dialogue and caption boxes, and the art during the Terror sequences is dark to the point of opaqueness. Virtually nothing is explained until the end. A tough read.

The advantage of bringing a school back is that central locations make the soap opera dynamic work better. As much as I generally dislike the Krakoa era, it did do this right. The current separation of titles lacks this, and separation doesn't serve the characters well.

I apply this only to the main series. The "tie-ins" mostly had little if anything to do with the main storyline and were often contradictory (both with larger events and even with their own internal logic).

That said, Marvel's tendency to quickly go from one event to the other risks most of what happened here coming to naught. It's also hard to picture Marvel spending too much time on the global mess this would create in its aftermath.

Still impressed by how smart One World Under Doom was. North could have gone full-on, one note, beating a dead horse for nine issues commentary. Instead, he earned more strategic moments of commentary with an examination of all sides. And yet still maintained a clear point of view.
