61 years ago on this day, President Johnson signed legislation which outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. This was monumental to the fight for justice and equality, and I am proud to continue this work against identity based discrimination in Michigan!

Polluters should clean up their messes. It's only fair! Senate Democrats are working to require polluters to pay for pollution they cause instead of leaving it for taxpayers to clean up.

I was honored to be invited to the Jackson Juneteenth panel. I made it clear -- I'm standing strong against the dangerous proposed Medicaid cuts coming from Washington and the state house, and I asked every other elected official to stand with me.

Too many Michiganders, including me, have been subject to criminal sexual conduct by people in a position of trust. Too many institutions have sheltered predators instead of preventing harm. This package is a big step towards justice for survivors of criminal sexual conduct and toward prevention.

It's Mental Health Awareness Month. Let's raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote understanding and compassion. While my Senate colleagues and I have worked hard to address the mental health crisis by passing gun safety laws and investing in mental health care, we have so much more to do!

Agriculture is one of our most important industries and I want to do everything I can to support farmers in MI. I held a listening session in Washtenaw County to hear directly from farmers and processors to get what they need done. Biggest issues? Deer damage, PA 116 and Trump Administration chaos.
