The president is confused.

This week, I hosted a telephone town hall to hear directly from thousands of New Mexicans about the Republican shutdown. I always appreciate the chance to connect – whether it’s in person or over the phone – and to hear directly from you.

PNM and NM Gas Co. are offering payment assistance to New Mexicans impacted by the Republican Shutdown. If you are a federal employee, contact your provider for help.

The FCC has no business targeting independent media companies. Protect the First Amendment. Follow the law.

To my Republican colleagues: It’s time to step up for the American people and prevent millions of our constituents from seeing their health insurance premiums skyrocket.

President Trump and Congressional Republicans chose to shut down the federal government. This crisis was avoidable. Now, President Trump is saying “a lot of good can come from shutdowns” – while admitting he’ll use this one to inflict as much pain as possible on the American people.

Republicans want to shut down the government. Democrats are fighting back to make health care affordable. Confront the lies.

“If it has to shut down, it’ll have to shut down.” - Donald Trump.

This shutdown crisis is 100% of Republicans’ making. They’re holding affordable health care hostage and using federal workers as political pawns to push their reckless agenda. @democrats.senate.gov are fighting to keep families covered and avoid another Trump shutdown.

Republicans control the White House, House, and Senate. Instead of governing responsibly, they’re driving us into another Trump shutdown. @democrats.senate.gov are fighting to keep the government open and protect Americans’ health care. In President Trump’s own words:

Here we go again. The Shutdown President wants another government shutdown.

The president is not a doctor – and spreading false medical claims is dangerous. He’s undermining science and research to push unproven conspiracy theories, and it’s pregnant women and families who will suffer most. Trust your doctor, not this guy.

Vaccines keep kids safe. But Secretary Kennedy’s anti-vaccine agenda is putting children at risk, and making it harder for families to access care. Thank you @bluntrochester.senate.gov for hosting this forum to expose these dangers and highlight why strong public health leadership is essential.

This is what leadership looks like in New Mexico – creating opportunities for our children, lowering costs for families, and improving pay for the workforce. This is a big deal for New Mexico’s children, parents, and families!

It was an honor to meet with medical professionals in Las Cruces and talk about the cuts to Medicaid and Medicare that will hurt access to care. I will not stand by while health care access is being ripped away from New Mexicans.

109 years ago, the National Park Service was founded to protect our wildlife and land for generations to come. Cuts to the National Park Service put our public lands at risk. I will never stop fighting to preserve our public lands for all to explore, love, and protect.

While Congressional Republicans are avoiding their constituents, I believe in showing up and listening to the people you represent. I’m proud to represent all New Mexicans, and I will continue to use their voices to guide my work.

The Republican Budget Betrayal rips health care away from New Mexican families and threatens the survival of hospitals across our state.   I sat down with local health care leaders to hear firsthand how cuts to Medicare and Medicaid are impacting our communities.

I visited Casa de Peregrinos in Las Cruces to tour the facility and hear from New Mexicans about the impact of Republican-led cuts to health care and nutrition programs.    Cutting the programs that feed our children and families is cruel and unacceptable. I’ll keep speaking up and fighting back.

I sat down with Española Public Schools to discuss how the Republican-led SNAP cuts are hitting students and families hard. Families are struggling – and school nutrition programs are a lifeline. With half a million kids at risk of losing school meals, these nutrition programs are critical.

President Trump promised transparency on Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes – but never delivered. The American people deserve answers. That’s why I’m teaming up with Senator Jeff Merkley to demand the public release of the Epstein files and fight for justice for the victims and their families.

Five years ago, we lost a giant – my friend and mentor, John Lewis. He taught us to fight for justice, stand up for what’s right, and never back down from “good trouble.” Let’s honor his legacy by continuing that work.

Americans have made it clear they do not want to be dragged into another endless war in the Middle East. Yet tonight, President Trump went against the American people without sharing any evidence to prove these military strikes would protect our homeland security.

Secretary Kennedy, you are responsible for protecting the health of Americans. People are getting sick, some dying, from the measles outbreak. Start being accountable and respond to congressional letters.

One New Mexican recently wrote to me, “The pharmaceutical tariffs will harm and kill me slowly … Please fight for me.” The Trump administration is telling the American people to expect pharmaceutical tariffs in the coming months. It’s New Mexicans who will pay the price.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law made historic investments to grow the economy, invest in broadband, and make needed improvements in communities across the nation. President Trump’s nominee to be the top lawyer for the Department of Commerce doesn’t even know the law exists.

Nothing says corruption like accepting a $400 million plane from a foreign government and calling it a “gift”.

It’s because of stories like Allison’s — whose family depends on Social Security — that I voted against President Trump’s nominee to lead the Social Security Administration.

When I questioned President Trump’s nominee to lead the Social Security Administration if he would commit to not closing offices in New Mexico, he refused to make that commitment. The more than 500,000 New Mexicans who depend on Social Security deserve better. I just voted against his confirmation.

Today, the Senate is voting to end the President’s reckless tariffs – a NEW TAX – that will increase costs for New Mexicans by $4,000+ a year. New Mexicans can’t afford this chaos and uncertainty. Let’s end this now.

No one should be thrown out of their home, barred from public spaces, or otherwise discriminated against because of who they are or whom they love. The #EqualityAct amends existing nondiscrimination protections to protect our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors, and I’m proud to support.

100 days of increased costs, chaos, and corruption. President Trump has done nothing to lower prices, help families get ahead, or make things better for NM. During my town hall, I heard from constituent after constituent on how the Trump admin is hurting families. We can't continue on this path.

Let this sink in. Two American children, including a 4-year-old with Stage 4 cancer, were sent to Honduras without due process. No attorney. No medication. The Trump administration’s brutality is putting lives at risk and violating the rights of U.S. citizens.

In his first 100 days, President Trump has done nothing to lower costs for families. Instead, he's igniting a trade war and weaponizing the federal government to go after his political opponents.

Every day Secretary Hegseth is in charge, he puts American safety and our men and women in uniform at risk. This is negligence, plain and simple.

Happy Earth Day, New Mexico!   Our state is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world. Now more than ever, we must continue to fight to keep our state beautiful for future generations to come.

Pope Francis was a beacon of hope who reminded us all to love and help each other regardless of our differences. His Holiness led the church with compassion, kindness, and was an inspiration around the world. May his message continue to guide and inspire us all.
