It's Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky Ohio so I figured why not ride my bicycle. I'm the engine but it still counts (I also make significantly less noise).

I left work at 2:30 to go to my boat in Sandusky ohio. As I pulled into Sandusky I realized I forgot my wallet(an hour+ away). This meant no going to the bar to watch cavs game. I had to watch an announcer on YouTube. Cavs lost so now I get to finish some beers watching other YouTube stations.

I've confirmed at home water goes counter cock wise around the drain(north of the equator). Here in polynesia it turns clock wise (south of the equator)

After bumming around French Polynesia on a sailboat for a week, I am not looking forward to returning home, the weather there is unacceptable. It's 80 and sunny here and I'm the 40s at home.

After almost 24hrs of travel, we've arrived in French Polynesia. Tomorrow we jump a sail boat and hop around the Polynesian islands for a week. I hope I can rent a bicycle to cruise around the islands.

Travelling caused a conundrum. My body says I'm in my home time zone where it is in the beer o'clock range. I'm in a timezones now that's several hours earlier in a the coffee range. Have into both, with hydration

It seems slightly off to listen to Jimmy Buffett in the bar while having a frozen lake Huron outside. I generally associate his tunes with sitting on my boat on an unfrozen Lake Erie in the summer with a drink OR when I used to spend the holidays in the keys listening to his music.

It went down, I biked from mainland Michigan, St Ignace to Mackinaw island and back. The trip back was tougher but it was a great ride! It was 9 degrees F on the way there and a balmy 12 on the way back. Now it's time for spring, I can be done with the cold.

Since I left for Michigan's Upper Peninsula this morning to ride my fat bike to Mackinaw(or attempt to) I figured it was fitting to wear my day bike shirt. There are snow mobiles on the ice heading to Mackinaw in the pic.

Did a test ride (new tire studs and experiment with layers) on frozen Lake Erie today for 4.2mi, the same as the distance from mainland to Mackinaw island next weekend. All was good! Just have ramp up the layers to accommodate a hi temp of 8 degrees F.

I see time off work soon. It sounds like the Mackinac ice bridge will be happening this winter! I've been waiting for this for years and it sounds like this is the year. There are a fair number of dependencies, but a fat bike ride from mainland to Mackinac would rock. www.mlive.com/news/2026/01...

I did @bikecleveland.bsky.social Cranksgiving today where cyclists bike to stores and buy whatever they can afford to go to local food pantries. The only rule was everything must be hauled by bicycle. This is my bike and the total haul from around 40 cyclists.

Now that its almost November and my summer toys are put away, it's time to start looking for a fun fat bike destination for when it gets cold. Normally I go to the upper peninsula, but I'm looking for other fun areas places this time. Any suggestions within about a 10hr drive of Cleveland?

Brewery ride is over. 47 miles from Akron to home. The towpath was flooded for about 10 miles which made it kind of fun. I'm sure after riding thru that much standing water I'll have cable issues or something when the bike dries out.

Day 3 of the brewery ride. Today's brewery is Eighty-Three brewery in Akron Ohio. The ride here was 47 miles from Bolivar ohio. I'd say this brewery is ok, its not great and next time I come to Akron to go to brewery, this will not be the one I come for and probably not even on the list.

Day 2 of the brewery ride complete. 38 hilly miles from Wooster Ohio to Bolivar ohio. Tonight's brewery is Lockport in Bolivar Ohio. Tomorrow I head north along the towpath to Akron.

Day 1 brewery ride was a success. 57 miles from Lakewood to Wooster ohio and now I'm at JAFB brewery. I tried to stop at a few along the way but they weren't open for lunch. Tomorrow I ride to Bolivar Ohio for Lockport brewery.

Today I start a multi day 200ish mile brewery tour bike ride.

Tomorrow we have to return boat we chartered to play around the Mediterranean back to it's home port. It was a GREAT trip and the last port of the trip is sad. (I guess I have to return to work next week)

Deleting ALL work apps off my phone and leaving my work PC behind the leaving for 2 weeks - 1 to explore Velencia Spain and 1 to sail the Mediterranean on a chartered boat was a great vacation decision. I've lost track of what day it is. It's awesome. (Also kudos to my employer for supporting it!)

While in Valencia Spain last week I convinced the wife to rent some bikes. She rented an ebike and now wants one which is good. Even better was getting to bike around Valencia. They have great scenery, great infrastructure, and lots O' fun. Now it's boat time.

Waking up on the Mediterranean beats waking up to go to work.

Our few days in Velencia were so much fun we would like to return some day. Now we are off to Mallorca, this was our first peek after getting off the bus from the airport. One night here then we jump on a catamaran to sail around the island.

I had the day off so I decided to ride my fat bike to my marina(Cleveland to Sandusky) without really being in shape to ride the fatty that far. It was tiring, but I'm not dead so I'll be in better shape!

Wife's new toy arrived today just in time for a fun boat trip this weekend.

I resurrected The Evil Machine (or Evil for short) for the new boat. On my old boat, when it came out someone was getting hurt. Now it's found a home on the new boat - time for a resurgence of evil party!

It's June 2 here in Ohio and heat and jackets are still being used. I think I'm going to call it summer and wear tshirts and shorts regardless of the temp.

The real reason I went to Petoskey was fat biking on the excellently groomed trails near Boyne.

I'm in Petoskey Michigan for the weekend playing in the snow and cold. Found an excellent bar with great drinks and records. You pick from hundreds of records on the wall then they play them. Very cool, chill, excellent atmosphere place.
