🗃️ I know it's not worth engaging Guelzo, but this is just exhibit A in why you cannot blindly apply 21st (& 20th) c. understandings of party politics onto the 19th c. It's a fundamental misreading of party dynamics & culture to think 19th c partisanship looks like Guelzo's "party animal" of today 1/
