It was the very first time we'd seen any footage of 3 Beatles together since the breakup ~25 years earlier, and it was in the cause of casting doubt on what John said. Can't have been an accident, and it turned John (and all of them) into unreliable narrators, if (probably?) good-faith ones. /end

Great post, as always. Re: the "different colors/makes of the van", as I've probably said here (and to you) before, the "jamming with Elvis" part of the Anthology was exceedingly jarring and powerful. John tells the story, cut to the three of them together, baffled and bemused. 1/
