Cat rescue at Disneyland! While parking, I saw a galloping little critter in my passenger mirror. Just as I realized it was a cat, it leaped sideways into a fence, and tumbled under the cars behind me. She performed the same stunt a couple more times until… she was coaxed out and brought in! Whew!

Don’t feel bad if you haven’t taken your tree down yet. This was at #Disneyland today…

Today marks the 97th anniversary of Mickey Mouse’s public debut and, according to convention, his birthday. Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!

I have heard that the most thankless task at Disneyland is being the guy who has to check the base of the Town Square Christmas tree for loose bulbs.

In case you had not heard, you can catch me on Oct. 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, or 31 as I officially carve pumpkins at the Disneyland Resort. I will be at the Disneyland Hotel from noon to 3 and the Grand Californian from 5-8. Stop by and say hello!

By this point I just think of Herb Ryman’s tree the way I think of Shamu. It’s more of a concept than an actual whale.

Note to self: If it’s too big for carry-on, perhaps it’s not a good souvenir to purchase…

I was honored to do my part to support the annual San Diego Comic Con Robert Heinlein Blood Drive by donating two units today. And how appropriate to do so while cosplaying Dr. John Hammond from Jurassic Park.

Enough! This is like watching a toddler with cake smeared on his face and hands loudly proclaiming that a bad man came into the house and stole the cake.

A pedantic reminder that #Disneyland first opened its doors to guests on July 18, 1955. Today marks the 70th anniversary of the day invited guests celebrated the dedication of the park for a live, televised event.

Sabrina Carpenter’s name has been crossing my Disney social media feed today, for some reason. It reminded me of a visit I made on April 23, 2014, to the Disney Music Group. She was giving a “lunch time concert” to introduce her EP. Was this the next Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, or Bridgit Mendler?

I don’t really know why, but Tuesday night I just felt like enjoying a TACO.

Hmmm, a major milestone passed a few days ago with no fanfare whatsoever. May 22 marked the 27th anniversary of New Tomorrowland… In tribute, here are my very own rare photos of Paul Pressler signing autographs! And with it— an actual autograph, signed! What better way to kick off the summer than with a Memorial Day 50th anniversary screening of Jaws? But first, a trip to Dana Point Harbor to make sure there were no sharks cruising the baby beach…

Remembering three Michigan farm boys this Memorial Day: my uncle Ron (Army Air Force, 1940), uncle Ralph (Army Paratroops, 1943), and my dad (Coast Guard, 1944). They all returned home from WWII. On this Memorial Day we remember them and honor all who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces.

A very happy birthday to my son Cameron, who embarks on his third decade today. It is fun to look back, even as we are always moving forward. Here's to many more happy days to come!

A very happy Mother’s Day to my own dear mother. She has always been there to hold me in her arms and to help me stand on my own two feet.

May the Fourth be with you! My late wife was an intern at #NPR when they aired a radio series adaptation of #StarWars. One of her tasks was to roll and ship every free poster that was sent to listeners. Luckily, she kept one that we display to this day. Star Wars and NPR: May they live forever!

It was a pleasure to attend the premiere of Bob Gurr: Living by Design. Since this is the weekend for posting pictures of Bob, here’s one I took in April of 1999, and another from just before the premiere on Saturday night.

It was sad to hear the news that Lulu Roman has passed on. In the course of my decidedly circuitous career she was another one of my brushes with celebrity. In the early 1980s she did a one-shot musical-comedy series at the Oklahoma City TV studio where I was working. A sweet lady and a lot of fun!

Have I correctly heard that Fred Mertz was just elected Chancellor of Germany???

Anyone else find it odd that the silent movie house at #Disneyland plays six Mickey Mouse shorts? After all, he was the first SOUND cartoon. Of course, we know when that cinema opened it was all silent movies. Two Qs: When was it changed to all cartoons? What became of these specially made posters?

This my culture night! I am at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater for a #D23 event. (This little jester in the lobby was originally created to decorate Tinker Bell’s Toy Shoppe at Disneyland!)

Morning mood. First to find the happy, then to get busy. There’s a lot that needs to be done.

This should be fun! Thirty years ago #Disneyland gave away a set of forty collectors’ cards to guests at the park… one day at a time. Now you may relive those halcyon days as Daps Magic posts a new card every day. And you don’t have to brave the rain, parking, and other pushy collectors to get them!

Thirty five years and one day ago I took the first attached photo (from the January 11 kickoff for Disneyland’s 35th birthday), and I took the second photo today. Can you spot the difference? That’s right… in the 1990 photo there are government snipers on the roof of the Emporium.
