I didn't get to read Jon IV yesterday so I have to catch up today. Let me just say this of Alliser Thorne: I love characters that give nicknames to other characters. One of my favorite personality traits. Even if they're mean.

Bran IV: an awesome chapter to read on a snowy day - the story of the Long Night

Daenerys III: I always pictured the Dothraki sea as dry, yellow grass. I was surprised to read that it's quite lush and beautiful! I'd like to see all those colorful grasses and red flowers.

Arya II: I didn't get the chance to read yesterday so I'm playing catch up today. Shame, yesterday would have been "Hate Sandor Clegane Day" oh well, guess we missed it!

Tyrion III: Maester Aemon is here!! If you could choose any old man in the series to be your grandpa, who would you pick? I think I'd choose Maester Luwin.

Eddard IV: Can you imagine having Littlefinger and Renly as coworkers? Would you fit right in or want to shoot them?

Jon III: Does anybody love the scene where Jon gets his lesson on privilege from Donal Noye?

D&E spoilers-ish: My husband told me that he figured out that the drunk guy in ep 1 was a Targaryen. Suspects he's Aegon Targaryen, because he thinks Dunk & Egg really means Dunk & Aegon. I simply told him he's too clever by half. I'm really stoked to watch the series, and watch him watch it!

Catelyn IV: I Spent like 15 minutes on page 1 because I stopped to type out an incredible Moreo Tumitis joke, but you really have to hear it. It can't be transcribed.

I really was not a big fan of that scene that prominently displayed Dunk's ass. But I am a very big fan of that other scene that prominently displayed Dunk's ass.

Bran III: A short chapter, but I still couldn't finish it all at once lol (see photo). Just as I have little time to read, I have little time to write. But I really liked this chapter. Could be a scene in a Studio Ghibli film - so scary but whimsical and beautiful.

Winds will always be what I want the most but I'm honestly extremely hype for The Village Hero. I know we got to see House Smallwood in TMK, but I dare to dream we'll see them in TVH too. And if not, any Riverlands content is welcome in my brain.

Eddard III: Arya stood up for Lady, even when Sansa didn't stand up for her. I actually remembered Sansa actively lying, but all she actually does is say she couldn't remember. Tbh, I don't think it would have changed the outcome.

Sansa I: It's really sweet how Arya tried to include Sansa in her fun at the start of the chapter.

Catelyn...III, I think: Robb and Arya both chew their lip. I love that detail 🥹

Tyrion II: More enjoyable to read about dragons when I know who they were!

Eddard II: Robert telling Ned he's so prickly that he should take the hedgehog as his sigil, lol Robert is full of good lines this chapter.

Daenerys II: I love the entire horse-giving scene.

Jon II: Damn, Catelyn Tully Stark. I'm going to be a hater just for a chapter. Picturing Jon being a little boy and having his only mother figure tell him - repeatedly, apparently - that he's not wanted just guts me.

Tyrion I: I love that our first impression of Tyrion from Jon and his own POV is that he's a wise, bookish underdog with a heart of gold.

Bran *II I meant! I might give up numbering tbh. I will never keep it straight. Like, couldn't even get to the first second POV before losing track lmao

Bran I: Bran recalls one of the Kingsguard as being named "Gerold High-tower". First book-ism maybe?

I had a dream that Winds was in my hands. It was so real that a good portion of the dream was me trying to decide if I was going to continue my reread. I flipped through the book and my eye did caught that Theomar Smallwood was involved in a fight, so now I'm worried about his fate.

Arya I: I want a shirt that says "Born to be Sansa, forced to be Arya."

Catelyn II: I hate Petyr Baelish. And I'll tell you what else - gonna have to gently push back on Lysa, too.

Jon I: Reading in multiple sittings again. Just checking in to remind us all that Rickon is sweet and adorable, stopping the procession into the great hall to say hi to Jon, even needing Jon to urge him on 🥺 I can just picture it, so sweet.

Edward I: Going to have to read this a page at a time throughout the day until little lady Smallestwood goes to bed. But this quote is so good. Is Ned funny?? "In those days, the smell of leather and blood had clung to him like perfume. Now it was perfume that clung to him like perfume."

Daenerys I: Not a ton of thoughts. Just a rough, sad chapter. A great setup for her character, though! Whatever The End has in store for her, I do hope she gets to experience the feeling of home again.

Catelyn I thoughts: it's interesting to me that Catelyn holds more space for magic, signs, and spirits than Ned. She even has more fear of the Others - Ned suggests he doesn't even believe in them! I wonder if it's a Riverlands trait - to be more superstitious and mystically bent.

Bran I stopped me dead in my tracks when it said Ned is 35.

I reemerge into the fandom to go through my first re-read of asoiaf. One chapter per day, and I'll be finished within the year! Today: AGOT: Prologue. Everyone glazes this chapter, and you'll never hear me call it overrated. It is the perfect introduction to the series.
