Tried Firefox’s experimental support for CSS container queries with custom properties. I’m often critical of Firefox for missing features and slow adoption, but credit where it’s due, its style and layout engine has been the fastest so far. (Safari is the worst)

I see lots of people use AI to generate tests while they do most of the coding. I prefer the reverse: I write the tests, then ask AI to implement. The catch: I don’t want blind compliance. If it spots inconsistencies, we talk before changing tests or code. It’s working well.

Except for tweets that go viral, I still get more engagement here than on Twitter, even though I have 3.7x more followers there.

Code agents should display a small banner with a link to support the project whenever they use an open-source library as part of the current task.

Almost there

I understand this point, but I also believe there’s real value, as an engineer, in deeply understanding someone else’s abstractions, especially in successful software. At the very least, it will help you build your own abstractions in the future.

I haven’t used tabs in my code editor for almost a year now, and I feel so much better. The distraction of having a bunch of tabs open is insane. It’s tough to get used to at first, but once you do, you won’t go back.

Native CSS only needs two things to beat Tailwind: @mixin and the ability to apply it inline in the style attribute. With those, I don’t see any reason to use Tailwind anymore.

Coding has a significant impact on my sleep schedule. It’s hard to stay asleep for long hours, and when I wake up after 5–6 hours, there’s a good chance I won’t be able to fall back asleep. On days when I don’t code, I can sleep continuously for 8–9 hours without much effort.

I've been seeing a lot of hate for OpenAI's new browser because it's Chromium-based. Honestly, I don't know which would be worse: building an engine from scratch or basing it on WebKit or Firefox.

Kudos for being open-source! But "Fast" and "WebKit" don't go well together. Even Gecko is faster despite being behind on features.

Is CodeSandbox still active? It's becoming increasingly unusable over time. StackBlitz is an awesome alternative, but with the company shifting its focus to Bolt, I'm afraid it will meet the same fate. Are there any other options?

My first impression of Remix 3 is that it’s a bunch of new APIs to do what we already do. It doesn’t seem to unlock new capabilities. HTML fragments are cool, but you can already do that by returning RSC from server functions in React. Astro supports it too.

If you all stop using Firefox (or Zen) today, I can ship something really nice with container style queries tomorrow.

My favorite React API is the end of forwardRef.

Tooltips are an accessibility nightmare, but if you want to make them as accessible as possible, make sure users can move the cursor over them. Some magnifier tools use the cursor position. If the tooltip closes when the cursor moves away from the anchor, it will not work.
