If you had any lingering doubts about the quality of Pascal Struijk, the fact that he’s going to Brighton should give you pause for thought. They’ve been ahead of us for years in no small part due to their excellent recruitment. A top player, going into his peak years is a steal at £20m. #lufc

Pascal Struijk, a true favourite from the time he first graced our U21s. Looks like a sexy pirate, sometimes played like one too. Scored some important goals, including some great penalties. Wore the armband with pride through some hard times. Knew it was coming but it doesn’t hurt any less. #lufc

I struggle to find much enthusiasm for England sides without any Leeds players involved & when you add the fact that a result for Panama would make the ridiculously nice Thomas Christiansen happy, it’s hard not to root for the underdog.

I have become something of a collector of footballing opinions that bridge the divide between differing camps of fans. It’s fascinating to me how certain things are agreed upon by stat fixated youngsters who largely came into the game via video games & older legacy fans who actually played a bit.

I have absolutely no idea why anyone chooses to be a goalkeeper, it's inarguably the most thankless role in a football team. They tend to make far fewer mistakes than outfield players but they get punished for the ones they do make virtually every time & thus are disproportionately blamed too. #lufc

Hard to adequately convey the disappointment regarding LUFC decision to abandon Bluesky. The owner of X is not just a racist & misogynist but his actions have done unimaginable damage to humanity. He facilitated the election of Trump & the withdrawal of USAID is equivalent to mass murder. #lufc

I am aware of the arguments that being in the PL is in fact Very Bad & in fairness some of them are legit but getting top tier Adidas shirts plus the recent progress on the ground redevelopment etc seems like fair recompense for collectively enduring the horrors of the Bates/GFH/Cellino era. #lufc

Perhaps testament to the extraordinary career of James Milner is that his retirement aged 40 still seems about ten years premature. Disappointed that we didn’t get to bookend his career but I wish him all the best in whatever comes next. A fantastic footballer & a terrific man too. #lufc

For much of the season we’ve been understandably targeting at least 1ppg but in the last six matches we’ve hit 2.33ppg. Given that two of those matches were injury blighted dead rubbers after we’d achieved mathematical safety it’s all the more remarkable. #lufc

At the point now where I’ve nearly run out of plaudits for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been absolutely sensational this season. Now has as many goals as any other English player in the PL & has also scored in his last three games. Surely they have to consider him for the England WC squad. #lufc

Watching West Ham’s leaky back five in action after seeing our makeshift defence holding out against a determined & skilful opponent to secure 3 points that we didn’t even really need just shows the difference between the two sides & why they’re going to finish considerably lower than us. #lufc

To get to the next stage in terms of where we want to be you have to look at admittedly smaller clubs like Brentford & Brighton who have managed to become settled PL teams under several different managers because they’re very well run from top to bottom. It’s not about any individual. #lufc
