In a story where money is an important thing, there should be an economy. If all the characters are either noble and get money from taxes or inheritance or poor and can only steal, who's making the money? Got WAY too excited to play as a player and not a gamemaster, and made Lhouie (short for Silhouette)! She fights monsters and writes about it and it's published in tabloid magazines for normal folks to laugh about! She is equally happy to make friends or fight enemies! She also loves sharks.

New ttrpg idea: Classic mecha setup, you play as teenagers who are psychically gifted and can connect with these giant robots to fight off aliens in cities around the globe. But you live on a secluded island, where you take care of yourselves in a hostile wilderness. #AmongTheAether

I agree, even though I'm bad at doing this. It's my campaign, and I realized I can have my players spend time building a fantasy horse ranch. Not so it can be set ablaze by liches riding dragons riding dracoliches, but just because I can make things as pleasant as I damn well want!

My campaigns are always a hodgepodge of paper characters, Lego objects, dry-erase battlemaps, dice, and fidget toys. It's a mess and I love it.

Veteran GM here! If your players find a way to circumvent a big fight or derail the campaign, let them! This is how you make memories. It's going to get silly. And that's wonderful. If you want them back on the plot, let them know! A good group will respect the work you're putting in.

Second main concept of my #FadesATU game: The treasures that you're hunting are Exalts, items that you can level up through achievements. They're also highly transferrable, because sometimes a player can't show up, and you hate to let their phat lewt get dusty.

First main concept of my #FadesATU game: Rival treasure hunters in a far future where death is just inconvenient. So you can join each for drinks afterwards and laugh about how they dunked you in lava after you nearly decapitated them.

In an attempt to get my kids to play DnD, I made a system where they pick six items of gear made from Lego, and it provides them with armor, health, speed, spells, background, and skills. Although I'm pretty certain what I actually did was just create a whole new #ttrpg. Oops?

I love looking through my 4e Monster Manual, since it gives such a complete monster, with behavior, moves, strategies, tone, etc. When I'm homebrewing my own game, I constantly grab this book to get a sense of what kind of baddies I want to throw at my heroes.

A thing I do to keep English spicy: pronounce "clipboard" the same way as "cupboard."

I love main characters with hobbies. I want them to be coming up with plans to infiltrate the Evvillean mothership while making bath bombs, or making animals out of toothpicks. Even if (especially if, maybe!) they aren't great at it. It's for fun!

The idea with Fades is that our heroes can die and come back immediately. They just respawn back at their ship, the Gambol. The challenge isn't in dying, it's in getting to the magic doodads first! And even though it's in space, swords are still relevant, of course. #FadesATU

What would a spaceship called The Ouroboros look like? Obviously, it's got to have that cool spiral shape going in on itself... Most importantly, what would the rakish crew be like that rivals the heroes? This is for Fades: Across The Universe, another TTRPG idea! #FadesATU

I came up with a difficulty-balancing mechanic in my DnD session! The heroes are tasked with retrieving red solums, corrupted gewgaws that bring enemies back to life as hollows. They get paid only half if they destroy the red solum, but then enemies don't come back! #RevenantSun

I'm teaching myself how to bake kolacky, because they're cute and would work well in my in-person DnD campaigns. Also, lime marmalade sounds nice?

The best part about homebrewing DnD campaigns is that you get to create a world, make a nasty villain, and then just let your heroes do whatever in it. It's like writing a story, except you don't have to come up with the main characters!

More talk about The Revenant Sun, or, I daresay, #RevenantSun. The necromancers (ostensibly good guys) each know only part of the knowledge of the ritual that allows them to revive part of the god's power to help people. If one person knew the whole ritual, the god could return!

Still on The Revenant Sun!: With the solar god dead (mostly), the world runs on these shards of power, solums, which shine with sunlight and allow people to grow food. These are the main currency of the game, and the more you amass, the more your home city can grow.

Okay, awesome concept: A solar god dies, and a group of good necromancers bring it to life in small pieces to use his magic. The god, partially undead, tries to claw its way back into the world. BAM. New DnD campaign: The Revenant Sun. Heck Yes.
