My 2cents: Expecting an average NG soldier to determine illegality of an order and act accordingly is unreasonable. Trump and co understand this, as well as the potential for forceful reaction resulting in escalating violence. Explosive incompetence: It’s what he wants, and what I most fear.

I spent the final chapter of my military career serving with the DC National Guard. I’m proud of my service and the dedication of my fellow soldiers to serving the district and our nation. Seeing Trump co-opt them for political purposes fills me with white hot rage.

Funny that it’s the Republican Party that gave the present victories to both the Confederacy and Russia.

This exactly! The ones we want to stay will leave. The ones we want to join will make other plans. The ones we want to keep out will fill the ranks and populate our streets. Now is the time for senior leaders need to speak out.

In the movies I watched growing up the countries that required people to show their papers were the bad guys.

Active and retired senior military stayed mum about election in effort to maintain decorum and stability. Now that there’s no question about Trump’s intentions, it’s time for them to voice concern/frustration/opposition/whatever, just do it loudly cuz they can’t all just be cool with this.

There are a lot of teachers in the National Guard who are having their back to school plans severely disrupted by the orders of Our Dear Leader. But our nation’s capital is finally liberated from the terror of rogue food trucks and hostile e-scooters. Huzzah!

The meeting was a disaster for everyone except two people. Trump got his photo op and his ego boost. Putin got his photo op, whitewashing of war crimes and no sanctions. No one in Ukraine, Europe or the United States benefited in any way.

Lafayette Square/St John’s Church = Alaska/Putin. A meaningless display of power that does nothing to solve the problem. BLM provided a distraction from a disastrous pandemic response. Today was an effort to talk about anything other than the Epstein files. Mission accomplished, Dear Leader!
