Honest, beautiful, and delicious. At the Kitamura Tokusai event on Saturday April 19th 11-4pm, a limited number of traditional Japanese sweets from Kyoto Nishijin’s famous Shioyoshiken (est 1882) confectionary shop will be sold at PARU La Jolla.

Kyoto’s chanoyu textile maker Kitamura Tokusai will be in San Diego April 19-20. The first event will take place at PARU La Jolla. This will be a rare opportunity to share tea with Tokusai san and to learn about the “fukusa” in the Japanese Way of Tea.

ミンゲイインターナショナルで先日見たチャパンというウズベキスタンの外套のような衣服。絣みたいな織物なのですが、茶の湯の裂地、太子間通によく似ているな、と思いました。シルクロードを経て日本にたどり着いた裂地が、人に愛され守られて今に残る。想いは、繋ぎ手がいる限り人間が地球上で与えられた時間を超えて残るのですね。

Spent the last few days with YOSHIKAWA Satoshi who was an apprentice to ABE Anjin, now living in Toronto, Canada. While chatting, we couldn’t remember all the names of the six old pottery families of Bizen. As a note, they are: Kaneshige 金重, Kimura 木村, Mori 森, Oae 大饗, Terami 寺見, Tongu 頓宮 #吉川恵司 #備前焼
