Ebi’s face before and after I told her it’s only Wednesday. Some of us move slowly, and Ebi, with her cat-itude, must make her objections known. 😹 When I joined her on the catio, she meowed at me. She’s had opinions before, and I know to stick around, offer pets, and get my photos. 😼

Tabbytha Tuesday is here and our Queen has entered her Tupperware era. 😹 If there’s a container left out, she will inspect it—royal protocol! Sanctuary Manager Kearstin opened one up and found the best surprise: Tabbytha holding court in her new “office.” 💚

Hamilton found out it was Tuesday and immediately said, “Perfect. Time to serve looks.” 😹 And serve he did—tongue out, charm on, and ready to melt whoever dares enter Cookie’s Kingdom. Volunteers, staff… nobody’s safe. If you sit, your lap is now Hamilton’s property. No negotiations. 😻

It's the Monday before Thanksgiving and while MOST of us are mailing it in waiting for the holiday. Vance is all business 👨💼 This FeLVie orange man can be a bit spicy but when it comes to out staff, he trusts them enough to don a tie. Or maybe it took a pile of treats, who can say?!

Crinkle Fry looking at Monday like he's watching a horror film 😹 Mondays are never welcome, especially when your a fluffy orange cat. Hating Mondays is kind of your... thing? Makes me wonder what Crinkle Fry would do to a plate of lasagna 😻

One of our incredible volunteers, Kelly, surprised us this week with a beautiful watercolor portrait of our FeLVie calico queen, Callie. 🎨💚 Purrsonally inspected by Callie herself, it was met with full approval.

Marigold ain't too happy that it's already Sunday. But seconds later, she was fine because she remembered that even though tomorrow is Monday, she's got no other place she'd rather be than atop a tree in Shadow Cats 💚

Barney was found outside a Family Dollar. Sadly, he tested positive for FeLV and was recommended for euthanasia. The finder refused and contacted us and we were able to take him in! Barney, here less than a week, greets us, asks for snacks, and shows his adorable perma-snarl. Safe and home now.

This last weekend we hosted another amazing Volunteer Potluck. Sanctuary Director Sarah gave us all the latest deets about things going on at Shadow Cats and we also gathered all the cards the kitties wrote for Santa, some of which are displayed here from Ebi and Shadow II.

A tale as old as time: a cat becoming absolutely obsessed with a completely random object 😹 I can’t tell you why, but ever since I started coming to Shadow Cats to take photos of all my buddies, KitKat has been deeply in love with this one specific pair of sneakers. Like… every time. Without fail.

Not every cat loves human contact... or contact of any kind for that matter. Mystique came to us earlier this year and has remained pretty aloof, sitting in the tallest cat tree she can find and huddling away from us or any of the cats. But lately? Maybe the tide is turning for this FeLV+ girl.

Happy Caturday! Meet Dexter, one of our newest additions to the Shadow Cats family. This little guy came to us after testing positive for FeLV during a very hectic kitten season. As always, we confirmed with an IDEXX PCR… and he came back fully positive. Thankfully, we had the space to bring him in.

Greta has her eye on your... or maybe she has it on the weekend? Either way, she's got dynamite peepers and we had to show them off. Happy Friday Eve, friends!

Happy Caturday! 💚 Meet Josie — one of our chattiest residents and the grand dame of our FeLV+ crew at nearly 13! This fluffy queen has plenty to say and even more love to give.

We made it to the weekend — and Shadow II is already under her blanket, living her best life. 💚 She came to us in 2018 from Texas Humane Heroes with neurological issues. Her meds now keep her seizures mostly under control, and she’s equal parts snuggly and sassy — a queen in her own cozy world.

Mia, a community cat we took in years ago, made an appearance to our volunteer Andrew. Mia is usually shy and only emerges after the staff leaves. Recently, we relocated her to a different part of the sanctuary, and she’s been making herself seen occasionally. Could this be a sign of a change? 💚

Vance was so confident on the runway and then he got bashful when it came time to take a picture with staff member Abby 😹 Not only does Abby take care of your favorite Shadow Cats, she's also got quite the eye when it comes to photography, such as this extra shot of Vance looking sharp in a tie 😻

For the last time this year, we partnered with Animal Balance to host a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) clinic in our community room. Nearly 60 cats came through for sterilization — a powerful step toward reducing suffering and improving the lives of community cats across Central Texas.

Tabbytha Tuesday, for those that are keeping track 💚 She still spends most of her days on the Oasis catio, though with the cooler weather she's been found inside a little more often. Still receiving amazing care, love, and adoration from all the staff and volunteers at the sanctuary 😻

When collecting a cystocentesis (say that three times fast) from Kibble, it is required to provide him an offering. An offering.. of Churu! What sort of hoops do you jump through to get your cat to take their meds? 😹

I recently visited the sanctuary and took some fresh photos of the rooms. I had fun doing a quick fisheye lens session with Bruce, Crinkle Fry, and Darby. They tried to catch a glimpse of themselves in the big lens, but it made for a fun and unique perspective.

One of his first posts and Ziggy is earning Scowl Of The Week privileges 😹 To be fair, Ziggy isn't really mad, his patterns just make him look like a bit of a grump. But spend a few minutes with this little dude, and he'll be rubbing on your legs and begging for pets in no time 💚
