🎱 Councils should have the power to protect communities from gambling harm. That’s why I’ve added my name to a cross-party letter on “Aim to Permit”. We’ve now received a response outlining new Cumulative Impact Assessments and a commitment to reducing gambling harm. This conversation must continue.

🙌🏻🏡 Big win for leaseholders in #Rushcliffe. I welcome plans to cap ground rents at £250 a year, reducing to a peppercorn in future. This will put money back into the pockets of families and pensioners and is a major step towards a fairer leasehold system.

Today I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment for Holocaust Memorial Day. We remember the six million Jews murdered, honour survivors, and all persecuted by the Nazis. I pledge to remember, reflect, and speak out against antisemitism and all hatred. #HolocaustMemorialDay

🐶🐾 Animal rescue centres shouldn’t rely on goodwill alone. Many meet high care standards while struggling to stay open. In #Rushcliffe, the Radcliffe Animal Centre costs around £800,000 a year to run and is funded independently. If we’re serious about regulation, we need proper funding.

👶🏼 I’ve just met with #NHS midwives to talk about maternity services which, as we know too well locally, are under a lot of pressure. Given the understandable noise that must be investigated properly, it's easy to forget there are lots of brilliant staff working hard to support mothers and babies.

📚 No student should suffer because the law is unclear... Yesterday, I led a Westminster Hall debate on whether universities should have a statutory duty of care for student wellbeing and safety. While mental health challenges are rising, legal protections haven’t kept pace.

Beijing’s plan for a mega-embassy in central London threatens the safety of 700,000 Hongkonger, Chinese, Tibetan and Uyghur communities. A 2018 PM pledge of “no delays” raises doubts over planning independence. I urge rejection and will keep campaigning. www.facebook.com/share/v/18YV...

✅ The Government has confirmed £6.7 million for active travel in #Nottinghamshire over the next four years, including repairs to the #Radcliffe - #Cotgrave Greenway. The problem is recognised, the funding is secured. Now we need a clear plan and timeline to reopen this key traffic-free route.

🐾 I’m pleased to welcome the government’s new Animal Welfare Strategy published this morning. These are the biggest animal welfare reforms in a generation: ending cruel practices like puppy farming, strengthening protections for farm animals, and improving standards across #Rushcliffe.

💸 On Wednesday, I welcomed the government’s funding settlement for councils, including a £234m (30%) boost for #Nottinghamshire County Council. I also asked the minister to meet me to discuss the higher costs of delivering services in rural areas like Rushcliffe.
