Down The Animal Well: An Analysis Animal Well, from solo developer Billy Basso, is a marvelous Metroidvania. Part of what makes this game so great is a series of deeper layers that more dedicated players can uncover. These mostly revolve around puzzles, but it’s also possible to project more meaning onto the game at a meta level. That’s exactly what I’m doing in this video. I wanted to talk about the animals in the game, so I narrowed it down by focusing on the ones I happen to have tattooed on my body. From there, I took a look at animal behavior and how this is reflected in the game. This is a weird one, I know. If you want to get in on the weirdness and play Animal Well yourself, I highly recommend doing so.
